TIMES Microwave Systems, part of the global Smiths Group, was honoured by Boeing last night as Avionics Supplier of the Year.

It was one of 11 suppliers honoured at the Suppliers of the Year awards ceremony held at Boeing, Seattle.

Times Microwave Systems, which is part of the Smiths Interconnect business, provides parts for the F/A-18 Super Hornet, F-15 Eagle and other Boeing products.

The Boeing Suppliers of the Year awards are presented to its top suppliers in recognition of their commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.

Boeing has more than 5,200 suppliers in about 100 countries.

Times Microwave Systems, founded in 1948 and based in Wallingford, Connecticut, was named Supplier of the Year in the Avionics category.

Paul Cox, President of Smiths Interconnect, said: We are very proud that Times Microwave Systems has been distinguished by Boeing as one of the suppliers of the year. Our success as a division is due to our culture of being highly customer focused and having world class operations.  We aim to continue our excellent performance for the future and further develop our relationship with Boeing.

Times Microwave Systems, which employs more than 200 employees specialises in designing and manufacturing high-performance flexible and semi-rigid coaxial cables, connectors and cable assemblies for a broad range of radio-frequency transmission applications.

TMS has been instrumental in developing military specifications for coaxial cables and provides products for Boeing military and commercial aircraft, including F/A-18 and F-15 fighters, the C-17 transport, and Chinook and Apache helicopters.

The companys quality rating exceeds 99 per cent.

The Boeing Supplier Management Process Council, with representation from procurement organisations from all Boeing business units, leads the effort to build a high-performing supplier network focused on first-time quality, on-time service and affordability.
