SMITHS Group, the global technology company, today announced that its Specialty Engineering division has won contracts worth a total of $33.5 million, underlining its technological leadership:

• Smiths Interconnect has been selected to provide its leading lightning and surge protection technology on a major 4G WiMAX deployment in the United States. 

• Smiths Interconnect has been selected to supply custom connectors that enable high-speed data transmission in extreme environments for a US naval programme.

• Smiths Interconnect has also won an important BAE Systems contract to supply interconnect solutions for a US defence programme.  The deal involves three key Interconnect businesses.  Interconnect supplies equipment that connects, protects and controls critical systems for the wireless telecommunications, aerospace, defence, space and medical markets worldwide. 

• Flex-Tek has won $18 million worth of contracts to supply its flexible hoses and rigid tubes for fuel and hydraulic systems on the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner commercial aircraft.  Flex Tek provides engineered components that heat and move fluids for the aerospace, medical and housing markets.
