Smiths Group plc announces the appointment of Silvio Bracone as Group Strategy Director, effective immediately, to succeed Mark Reckitt who is leaving to focus on his expanding portfolio of non-executive roles.

A former executive at Danaher and the Boston Consulting Group, Bracone is a 48-year-old Swiss-Italian with wide international and multi-industry experience, particularly in the medical and industrial sectors.

Philip Bowman, Chief Executive of Smiths Group, said: "Silvio has led a series of top-level strategic and operational initiatives – from cost restructuring and product development to acquisitions and post-merger integration.  His strong commercial focus and diversified industrial experience should prove invaluable as we drive further revenue growth and improve returns.

“I would also like to thank Mark for his contribution both at a group level and, more recently, as President of our Interconnect division, a challenging dual role which he carried off with considerable success.  I wish him well for the future.”

Roland Carter, currently head of the Connectors business unit of Smiths Interconnect, will take over as Interim Divisional President with immediate effect until a permanent appointment is made.  Mark will leave the Group at the end of April after a handover period.
