The suite of checkpoint and baggage scanners will help the airport handle increasing passenger numbers during the 2018 FIFA World Cup
Smiths Detection has installed the last of 91 advanced scanners at new terminals at Moscow Sheremetyevo International Airport opening ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The airport is expected to receive up to 20 million passengers this year, and Smiths Detection’s technologies will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient throughflow of passengers.
Our advanced X-ray scanners will be used for a broad range of screening functions, from passenger checkpoint and hold baggage through to cargo.
“In a relationship stretching back over 20 years, this is by far the largest single order we have fulfilled for Sheremetyevo Airport” explained Tony Tielen, Vice President EMEA, Smiths Detection. “We look forward to helping make the World Cup a safe and successful event and beyond that, safeguarding the airport, its passengers and staff”.
