John Crane, a global leader in rotating equipment solutions, supplying engineered technologies and services to process industries, announces the opening of its super service centre in Pune, India.

Located in Pune, India’s second largest city, the facility builds on the vast experience of its local workforce and provides John Crane with the capabilities necessary to offer support for its customers within the region, while also allowing them to deliver quick turnaround service capabilities and reduce downtime costs.

The super service centre enhances John Crane’s local service and support network for OEM customers serving oil and gas, power generation, chemical and pharmaceutical markets.

“Our new Pune super service centre not only provides key manufacturing support for our local market, but also acts as a Centre of Excellence for our machining capabilities, as well as an assembly centre for our local OEMs,” said Philippe Lambert, Vice President, Asia-Pacific GeoMarket. “The addition of the Pune facility also provides us with a wide breadth of local talent, which brings valuable skills to our team, while also strengthening our engineering and service capabilities.

Differing from a traditional service center designed only for repair services, the Pune super service center serves as a Center of Excellence for machining capabilities, providing additional engineering capabilities on top of its repair services.

Additional capabilities include:

  • Repair and testing of mechanical seals: The super service center bolsters John Crane’s capabilities to deliver highly critical services to repair, test and refurbish mechanical seals locally within Pune, and enables John Crane to provide end-to-end solutions to oil and gas customers, along with spare part stocking services.
  • Full dynamic testing: The super service centre provides dynamic testing of seals and tests as per EIL specifications could also be carried out.
  • Engineering expertise: The facility provides expert engineering support for local OEMs.
  • Local expertise: The addition of local expertise provides critical service capabilities that will help reduce customer lead time, as well as reduce delivery and shipment costs.

“Asia is an important growth market for John Crane, and will provide rapid expansion opportunities in the near future,” continued Lambert. “Our continuous investment in local capabilities, as well as a higher level of technology and service differentiation, are key drivers for John Crane as we continue to strengthen our service capabilities around the world and strategically build out our strong global footprint of more than 200 facilities.”
