Following a competitive procurement, Smiths Detection, a global leader in threat detection and security screening technologies, announces it has been awarded a $20 million contract by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to supply CTX 9800 Explosive Detection Systems (EDS) for baggage screening at several US airports.

With over 2,000 units deployed worldwide, the CTX platform is a proven technology used in air transportation security for the past 20 years. The latest generation of CTX 9800 further enhances the airport operator’s ability to meet evolving security and operational challenges by providing both advanced screening capabilities and efficiencies in business management solutions.

The CTX 9800 is certified by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration, Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and approved by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) as meeting European Union Standard 3.0 and 3.1 requirements.
