Smiths Medical supplies MiniCorr Handheld Pulse Oximeters for use during the tournament
SMITHS Medical, part of the global engineering business Smiths Group, today announced it was awarded the contract to provide more than 1,000 MiniCorr Handheld Pulse Oximeters for use during the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
Mobile first aid units in backpacks carried by emergency responders at the event are equipped with 10 Smiths Medical PM, Inc. MiniCorr Handheld Pulse Oximeters as part of Germanys comprehensive contingency planning programme.
The MiniCorr Handheld Pulse Oximeters provides Sp02 (blood oxygen saturation) and pulse rate monitoring for patients from newborn to adult.
The World Cup is the most widely-viewed sporting event in the world. The German Government is expecting 3.2 million World Cup visitors.
Smiths Medical Germany submitted the winning bid for a handheld oximeter unit with alarms. The order was placed by the company Dnges GmbH, supplying Die Landesregierung Nordrhein-Westfalen (the North Rhine-Westphalia Government).

MiniCorr Handheld Pulse Oximeter
The MiniCorr Handheld Pulse Oximeters provides SpO2 and pulse rate monitoring for patients from neonate to adult. The device is battery or AC powered, has adjustable alarm limits, as well as visible and audible alarm signals, and an infrared link to a printer. The digital technology enhances the ability of the device to detect pulse readings in difficult environments. It is ideal for use in home care and clinical settings, as well as during sleep screening.
