John Crane, part of the global technology business Smiths Group, today announced it has won a new £8 million maintenance contract from upstream oil and gas exploration company Talisman Energy (UK) Limited.

The three–year contract is to provide Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) services covering a wide range of rotating equipment at Talisman’s onshore and offshore sites, using a seamless combination of equipment, specialist skills and services.

John Crane’s CBM services provide customers with accurate condition information about their assets both on and off site at locations anywhere in the world.  Advanced processing turns the data into useful information which is reviewed by specialists and compared against historical performance.  This allows timely and informed decisions to be made, improving uptime and increasing operational efficiency.

Paul Cox, President, John Crane, said: “This latest win underlines our success in delivering exceptional services to help our customers improve the performance of their equipment.

“In the context of increasing global demand for oil and gas, John Crane is leveraging its extensive global scale more effectively to expand and improve our product portfolio and service support capabilities, providing fantastic opportunities for growth.”

Two thirds of John Crane’s revenue is generated by aftermarket – maintenance and support - services, which are driven by the installation of products in the original equipment.
