Smiths Interconnect announces its waterproof M23 circular connector series qualified for submersible motor and pump applications.

Recently industrial applications in underwater environments have required interconnect solutions for submersible motors and pumps be waterproof, while maintaining the same high electrical and mechanical reliability and durability expected under dry conditions.

In response to this market trend, Smiths Interconnect’s M23 cable connectors have been tested and qualified to meet IP68 sealing requirements for operation to a depth of 5 meters, over a period of 72 hours. These tests show that M23 connectors are able to perform while preventing water ingress for a longer duration and to a greater depth than previously established.

Smiths Interconnect’s M23 connectors, equipped with the renowned Hypertac® hyperboloid contact technology, are well known in the industrial market and are an ideal solution for applications that encounter rough and corrosion-prone conditions in the food and beverage, chemical, maritime, and medical industries.

The result is a reliable, state-of-the-art sealed M23 connector, with stable electrical and mechanical continuity, ensuring failure-free performance. The technical characteristics of the Smiths Interconnect M23 series also provide excellent shock and vibration resistance in other extreme conditions, such as chemical, aggressive gas, and polluted environments, as well as resistance to oxidation, corrosion, and acid.

“Our qualified M23 circular connectors provide manufacturers of submersible industrial devices and systems with a versatile option when designing their application,” says Paul Harris, VP Sales & Marketing.  “Our M23 Series offers a reliable sealed solution when a stable connection is necessary even in extreme and severe environmental situations.”
