As part of the Board’s normal succession planning the Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Pam Cheng as an independent non-executive Director.  The appointment will take effect from 1 March 2020.  On joining the Board Pam will become a member of the Nomination & Governance, Audit & Risk and Remuneration Committees. Biographic details are set out below.

Biographic information:

Pam Cheng, Executive Vice-President, Operations and Information Technology, joined AstraZeneca in June 2015 after having spent 18 years in Global Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Commercial roles at Merck/MSD.  Pam Cheng was President of MSD China, responsible for MSD’s entire business in China prior to joining AstraZeneca.  She was the Head of Global Supply Chain Management & Logistics for Merck from 2006 to 2011 and led the transformation of Merck supply chains across the global supply network. Prior to joining Merck, she held various engineering and project management positions at Universal Oil Products, Union Carbide Corporation and GAF Chemicals. Pam is also an independent non-executive Director of the US listed company Codexis Inc.  Pam holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in chemical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey and an MBA in marketing from Pace University in New York.

There is no further information required to be disclosed pursuant to LR 9.6.13.
